I contacted One to One on the recommendation of my little sister who had used them before.

I was a first time mum and terrified that I was not going to be able to ‘control’ the options for my pregnancy and birth. Hannah came along to my house for our first visit and I instantly felt comfortable and in control of my choices.

At first I wasn’t sure, I had my first scan at Arrowe Park and felt like I wanted my care to be a bit more personal, so my husband, me and Hannah planned for a ‘chilled’ home birth where I could set up my room as I wanted and have who I chose to have there.

Hannah was at the end of the phone whenever I needed her and some of the questions she had to answer seemed so random to me, but she always reassured me that it was normal to ask them.

I was actually excited! I planned my playlist, bought some candles and all the things I needed for my home birth. But…planning doesn’t always mean it will turn out like you want. I called Hannah four days before my due date…’I’m bleeding’…’right off to hospital’ Hannah sorted everything for me and I packed myself off to the one place I didn’t want to be. As it turned out, my little one was breach, and after an emergency C-section he was born healthy.

Hannah kept in touch throughout with my husband and we kept her updated. After we returned home, her care continued as she visited us to help with breastfeeding, weighing and support. I can’t tell you how many times Robin peed on her! But she carried on with a smile.

I can’t thank Hannah enough for looking after a fussy anxious pregnant lady like me with the care and compassion she did. One to One Midwives are a godsend as far as I am concerned, and it was a sad day when we had to say goodbye at our six week check. I couldn’t recommend a better way to be cared for during your journey.
